ECO-SEA recognizes that the conservation of biological and cultural diversity
is best achieved on site by local communities. We provide technical, logistical,
administrative and financial support to communities working to conserve
their biocultural heritage. Our collaborative programs in ethnoecological
research and institutional strengthening heighten the capacity of indigenous
and immigrant communities to document, interpret and actively conserve
native taxa (plant and animal communities) and related traditions (foods,
handicrafts, medicines, rituals, stories) as well as natural and cultural
landscapes.
